Rules of Poker

In poker, there are three types of hands: high pair, low pair, and ties. When there are ties, the high card wins. In high pair, the highest pair wins. When there are ties in low pair, the high card wins. When there are no fewer than five cards in a hand, a straight or better pair will win. If the hand is a tie, the second highest pair wins.

The player who makes the first bet has the privilege of making the first bet. Each player must also purchase chips equal to the total bets of the previous player. The active player is the one who makes the first bet, and is referred to as the “buy-in.”
